Photo, taken in 1966 by Jack Brewer, was supplied by Trevor Vienet in April 2026
This cabin no longer exists and was east of Waterford Park. Please contact us if you have any details about this tower, thanks.

The above photos, were taken in Dec 2019 (1st one, looking south towards Pretty Sally) and Feb 2020 (2nd and 3rd ones), and supplied by Tervor Vienet. Trevor also reported: The concrete foundation is still there. I still use it as a fire observation point. Many trips there on black Saturday. I believe Tony Scicluna tried to build a stone cabin on the foundation but gave up.
Phil Searl (Mt. Hickey FLO) supplied the following in Dec 2019: It was an on the ground cabin like Mt Wombat but it had those fantastic louver windows. I can just remember seeing that tower in the early 60's. There is a side cut leading to the site that is still quite visable.
Phil added the following information in March 2025: The cabin was clad with fibro cement sheet over a wooden frame with the obligatory louver windows! The concrete slab is 2720 mm X 2420 mm.
Trevor Vienet has put a document together after he received the photo of the original tower in April 2026. The document contains some historical data, and some photos, including a colourised copy of the original photo. Thanks Trevor, great work! To view the document, please click here
The Friends of Disappointment's Facebook page also posted the story and photos. The post can be found here.
The Friends of Disappointment's Facebook page followed up with another photo in early May 2026. That post can be found here.
