The 2006 photo and information was supplied by Dick Noble. Dick has served on Mt. Skene, Mt. Useful and currently on Mt. Moornapa.
The previous, wooden, tower burnt down in 1965. Details still unknown.
For years, this tower was only used when there was a going fire in the area or on high fire danger days, but over the last few years, it has been fully active again.
There used to be a live-in cabin on site, but it hasn't been used since the late seventies. It was moved in 1996 approx.

This photo was supplied by FCV...etc...DEECA. We're not sure if this actually is
the original Mt. Moornapa or to show what it would have looked like.
Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have further information.

A copy of a 2008 ParkWatch article about Dick Noble the FLO can be found here.

Mt. Moornapa had it's cabin replaced in 2016. The new cabin include fully insulated walls and ceilings, glass with glare and UV reductive properties, and are a modern, low maintenance design.
