In a FCV letter dated 28/3/66 there is mentioning about "allocations and priorities for the supply of new radio equipment" and sketch plans, "showing the locations of existing and proposed towers and lookouts".
Mt. Ellery is mentioned as a "Proposed secondary tower".

In a FCV letter dated 28/02/1968 it states: "In respect of the Mt. Ellery site, no lookout exists but access has been constructed to the rock on the southern end of the mountain which affords an excellent site and upon which there is a trig station.
A fire lookout cabin will be required on the rock within the next 3 years and your advice is sought as to what type of structure would be suitable to ensure that no interference occurs to the trig station."

1st screenshot is a 1967 sketch plan and the 2nd screenshot is a sketch plan from 1970. We have found no further details about this tower/cabin so we are not sure if this tower/cabin was ever constructed.
